How to Share a Recorded Zoom Meeting

One great advantage of using Zoom is that it lets you record meetings, which you can then share with your team. This ensures members who didn’t attend the meeting don’t miss all the important things discussed and allows other members to further review the decisions and action items from the meeting.

However, sharing your Zoom recordings is not always straightforward. The process differs depending on whether you share a local or a cloud recording.

In this article, I’ll share with you the step-by-step instructions on how to share both local and cloud Zoom recordings. I’ll also give you some tips on how to get the most out of your Zoom recordings.

How to Share a Recorded Zoom Meeting

Zoom offers two meeting recording options depending on your account type:

  • Local recording: With this option, Zoom saves your recording on your device’s local hard drive. This option is available to all Zoom users.

  • Cloud recording: This option saves you space by storing your recording on Zoom’s cloud servers, from where you can view, download, and share the recording. This option is only available if you have a paid Zoom account.

The process of sharing your Zoom recording differs based on where your recording is stored.

How to Share a Local Zoom Recording

Step 1: Open the Zoom app on your computer and click on the “Meetings” tab on the menu bar at the top of the Zoom window.

Step 2: Click on “Recorded” to view all your recorded Zoom meetings.

Step 3: Click on the specific meeting you want to share on the left pane to select it.

Step 4: Click on “Open” to open the exact folder on your local drive where the recording is saved.

Step 5: To make the recording available online, upload it to your preferred video sharing or cloud storage platform, such as Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, YouTube, or Vimeo.

Step 6: Copy the link to the video you’ve just uploaded and share it with your team via email, social media, text, or any other communication channel.

How to Share a Cloud Zoom Recording

Step 1: Sign in to your account on the Zoom web client and click on the “Recordings” tab on the left navigation pane.

Step 2: Click on “Cloud Recordings” to view a list of all your cloud recordings.

Step 3: Click on the “Share” button next to the recording you want to share.

Step 4: Click on the radial button next to “Publicly” or “Internally” to choose whether you want the recording publicly available or accessible to your team members only. You can also choose to protect the recording with a password.

Step 5: Click on “Copy to Clipboard” to copy information about the recording, including the meeting title, date, link to the recording, and the password required to access the meeting. You can then share this link with your team via email, text, or any other communication channel

How to Share a Zoom Recording Via Email

Sharing a Zoom recording via email is pretty easy. Simply follow the steps highlighted above for sharing local or cloud recordings, get a link to the recording, and share the link with your colleagues through an email.

How to Watch a Zoom Recording from a Link

If someone shares a link to a recorded Zoom meeting with you, simply click on the link to watch the recording. For local recordings, the link will redirect you to the video or file sharing platform where the link is hosted.

For cloud recordings, the link will redirect you to the Zoom web client. Depending on the video’s sharing settings, you might need to log in and provide a password to watch the video.

How to Download a Zoom Recording from Shared Link

The process of downloading a Zoom recording from a shared link depends on whether it is a local or cloud recording.

For local recordings, the download process varies based on the file platform where the recording is hosted. For instance, if the recording is on Google Drive, you simply need to open the Google Drive link, then click on the download button.

For cloud recordings, follow these steps to download the Zoom meeting recording:

Step 1: Sign in to your account on the Zoom web client and click on the “Recordings” tab on the left navigation pane.

Step 2: Click on “Cloud Recordings” to view a list of all your cloud recordings.

Step 3: Find the recording you want to download, click on “More,” then click on “Download.”
